The South Norfolk School Sports Partnership hosted its partnership Swimming Gala at UEA on Thursday 22nd February. The Diss, Archbishop Sancroft, Framingham Earl, Hobart, Old Buckenham, Wymondham and Long Stratton clusters all entered teams made up of students from their cluster schools.
Over 120 students participated and enjoyed the gala which consisted of races in 25 m freestyle, 25 m breaststroke, 25m backstroke, 25 m butterfly, 25 m x 4 free style relay, 25 m x 4 medley relay and a 25 m x 6 cannon relay for years 4, 5 and 6.
The gala provided an excellent opportunity for students to enjoy participating in a swimming gala, demonstrate team work, feel proud to represent their cluster and showcase the excellent participation levels and demonstrate their enthusiasm and commitment to healthy, active lifestyles!
To help run the event, eight leaders from Framingham Earl High school helped time, officiate and encourage the students, their positive attitude and encouragement helped inspire the younger students throughout the competition. The leaders proved to be great role models to the younger students and promoted the leadership opportunities available in South Norfolk.
Hopefully the children involved will be inspired to continue swimming, take part in further partnership and cluster events and enjoy being active! If students are interested in joining a swimming club, The Swans swimming club at Wymondham, Diss Otters in Diss, Dereham Otters in Dereham or City of Norwich swimming club at UEA are all found locally.
