Design and technology provides our children with an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. In Design and technology, children are encouraged to explore and try out different materials, tools and processes of making. Children’s questioning is valued and supports the m in predicting results and reflecting on their learning. The National Curriculum is followed and Design and Technology is embedded in a topic-based approach where relevant objectives and skills are taught. Children have access to a range of resources and we ensure health and safety procedures are strictly adhered to. All children have the opportunity to cook and explore food (which is supported through healthy eating principles in PSHE,) in our Food Technology room.
