Through a range of Geography topics we aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. Where possible, pupils are involved in fieldwork investigations outside the classroom, which includes visits to Minsmere, local castles, Harleston town centre and conducting traffic surveys. Year 6 pupils also enjoy a trip to London where they visit famous landmarks.

Throughout their time studying Geography at Harleston Primary School, children are encouraged to become familiar with a range of geographical resources, including a selection of maps, photographs and diagrams. They are also taught to analyse and interpret, whilst communicating geographical information in a variety of ways.

Every year the School studies a ‘Whole School Topic’; this has ranged from the Wild West to Oceans and Seas to the Commonwealth, focussing on a range of teaching and activities linked to the topic. This leads to wonderful enquiry, understanding of the world and some excellent Arts and Crafts!
